- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme optional
- Lemon wedges optional, for serving
Season the Steak: Generously season the rump steak with salt, pepper, and optional spices like garlic powder and smoked paprika. Let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Sear the Steak: Heat a heavy skillet or cast iron pan over high heat. Add olive oil or butter, then place the steak in the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, allowing it to form a crust.
Rest and Serve: Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes to redistribute the juices. Slice against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
